walaupun aku hanya berhijrah ke Kuala Lumpur ketika umurku 14 tahun, namun Kuala Lumpur bukanlah asing bagiku

aku ingat lagi, dua tempat yang kami tak pernah miss bila melancong ke Kuala Lumpur adalah Bukit Nanas dan Batu 11 Gombak, kenapa?
kerana di Bukit Nanas adalah perkhidmatan kereta kabel dan di Batu 11 ada theme-park yang cukup terkenal iaitu Mimaland, mungkin generasi baru sekarang ramai yang tak tahu, Bukit Nanas (yang kini ada Menara Kuala Lumpur itu) dulu ada perkhidmatan kereta kabel, korang boleh naik kereta kabel tu dan lihat pemandangan Kuala Lumpur dari atas, menarik sehhhhhhh
tak silap aku ia mula beroperasi pada tahun 1979 tetapi terpaksa ditutup tidak lama kemudian, aku rasa adalah kot dalam dua tiga tahun, mungkin bangkrap agaknya

kat sana ada patung-patung Dinasour yang besar untuk hiburan kanak-kanak di samping gelungsur air yang paling panjang di Asia Tenggara ketika itu
hah kalau korang tengok filem-filem Melayu era awal 80-an, banyak depa shoot kat Mimaland lah…yang aku tak dapat lupa filem Mekanik, adegan waktu Azmil Mustafa nyanyi lagu hindustan ngan aweknya dalam hujan, hahahaha lawak siooootttt

Mimaland now a ghost town

THE once popular Mimaland Recreation Park in Gombak, Selangor, is a sorry sight in a dire state of abandonment. It has been like this for the last 15 years, after it ceased operation in 1993.
The recreation park used to be a popular premier outing destination for families in the Klang Valley.
After it was closed, many people had hoped that it would be renovated and reopened as the place was a convenient site for picnics, being not too far from the city and yet having a raw natural environment, with plenty of trees and plants and a lake for swimming, fishing and boating.
The wish for its rejuvenation may not materialise in the foreseeable future as the landowner Magnum Corporation Bhd has no plan to revive and redevelop it.
According to Magnum spokesman Cheah Ho Wee Hock, there is no plan to redevelop the recreation park in the near future and the land is being kept for the purpose of investment.
"It will be sold when the right price is offered," Cheah told StarMetro during a telephone interview.
Until it is sold, Cheah said, the land would be left idle.
This is bad news for many who are hoping that the idle park, which started operation in the 1970s, will be given a new lease of life.
A StarMetro team visited the area about 25km from Kuala Lumpur, along the old Gombak-Bentong road, and found that it was undergoing a natural destruction process after left without maintenance since its closure in 1993.
The signs of decay caused by being abandoned for nearly 15 years is evident.
The arch that used to hold a welcome signboard is in deplorable state with overgrown creepers. The wooden shops near the arch are in disrepair and deserted.
A road leading to the park is covered with grass and undergrowth and also damaged.
Barricade in the form of hoarding have been placed at the entrance where the remnant of the office structure can be seen from a distance.
A solitary security guard was stationed bear the entrance to prevent trespassing and encroachment by unauthorised people.
The lookout towers, the office, bus stops and pillars have been left to rot, a sad reminder of the lost wonder.
It is also learnt that two security personnel are assigned round-the-clock duty to prevent unauthorised people and vehicles from entering.
However, when StarMetro visited the area, some people were seen fishing in the lake.
It is also learnt that some people had also gone there for camping.
Some nearby villagers also claim that wild animals, including tigers, have been spotted in the green forest with their pet dogs and cats failing prey.
In the past, the park had the country's first water-slides, a Pre-historic Kingdom featuring replicas of dinosaurs and related creatures of that era, a flower nursery, chalets built on stilts (called Bagan), a lake for boating and fishing, and other attractions.
The rundown buildings and chalets are only mere reminder of glorious past of this premier recreation centre, when the city folks used to enjoy camping or staying at the cosy water front chalets with their family members.
Villager Mohd Yusof Sarman, 52, who was born and lived in the area since, said that some people had claimed that they had seen a tiger at Mimaland although he had not seen it himself.
"When Mimaland was operating, we had more income from doing business with the visitors and tourists," he said.
"I used to sell sugar cane water, Malay cakes, nasi lemak when Mimaland was operating but had to stop business after the park was closed," Yusof said.
He said that the village had became very quiet since then.
Dasimah Abdul Hamed, 48, who has been staying there for 34 years, recalled that the roads were very busy when Mimaland was in operation, the safety of the village children was then a prime concern.
"I also used to make quite a bit of money from a foodstall nearby then. Now, business is slow and so is the traffic," she said.
Normalah Baharim, 20, who remembered her happy childhood days, said that she would spend all her free time at Mimaland as her father was working there.
"Because I love the park so much, I kept a head of a hippopotamus outside my house to remember my sweet old days," Normalah said.
"I used to remember playing at the playground, staying in the chalets and hotels for free as my father works there," she said
The Kampung Batu 11 lass said those were the best moments of her childhood and many of her friends envied her for that.
The Mimaland was opened in 1975 and ceased operation about 15 years ago following some unresolved plans for expansion.
The natural setting of the park makes it a very ideal natural holiday resort. It is certainly regrettable that such a beautiful natural recreation park should be left in such a dismal and dreadful condition.
Perhaps, some visionary entrepreneur should consider buying the place and redevelop it into a natural country resort, offering recreational activities and weekend conferences and retreats.
It is also a good place for setting up an international tertiary educational centre for environmental studies.

Your forehead, nose, chin, right cheek, left cheek: Each of these five face zones gives you clues to what is going on inside your body--if you know what to look for! Read on to decode what your face reveals about you.
How Traditional Chinese Medicine Reads the Body to Detect Disease
Most people don't realize that their face provides information about what's going on beneath the surface. Your body speaks a unique language to communicate the imbalances within it. Chinese medicine has mastered the art and science of reading the body's language over its five thousand year practice. Each part of your face reflects a different element from the Chinese 5-Element network (fire, earth, water, metal, and wood), which in turn, corresponds to a particular organ grouping. Your reflection offers visual cues to what may be happening within your internal systems--such as your heart, stomach, hormones and even your mind and spirit.
In some situations visual cues will immediately alert you of an issue, and you can take measures immediately. But the real value of self-inspection is in detecting subtle imbalances and dealing with them preventively through diet, herbal supplementation, and lifestyle practices. By reading your body, you can take care of small problems before they become big health issues.
The Forehead
According to Chinese medicine, the forehead corresponds to the fire element. This is associated with the heart and small intestine organ network, as well as the mind and spirit.
Your Nose
Your nose corresponds to the earth element, indicating a connection to the stomach, spleen and pancreas network.
Broken capillaries or redness across the bridge of the nose could reveal alcohol abuse, or it may simply mean excessive worry and stress, which taxes your earth element network. I had a patient who would de-stress from her taxing executive job with alcohol and sweets, and her nose always gave these indiscretions away. I recommended she calm her nerves in healthier ways, like meditation and other stress-releasing techniques.
Your Chin
The chin area is related to the water element, which is internally associated to your kidney and bladder organ network, including the hormonal system and glands.
Be sure to also look at your philtrum, the indentation just above your lips. This small area relates to the uterus and ovaries in women and the prostate and genitals in men. Horizontal lines, blemishes or discoloration across the philtrum may indicate infertility issues due to problems such as endometriosis or uterine fibroid cysts.
According to Chinese medicine, people who have a small chin are genetically predispositioned to weakness in their kidney and bladder network. However, this doesn't mean that small-chinned people will develop kidney disease. The information is simply an alert that a tendency may exist, and patients can choose to make lifestyle changes to prevent the development of a condition.
Your Right Cheek
Your right cheek corresponds to the metal element, meaning this area of your face is connected to the lung and large intestine network.
People who are prone to respiratory allergies or asthma have a tendency to have a reddish, scaly eczema, a slight rash or slight bluish-green hue along the right cheek--showing too much heat or inflammation in the respiratory system, or a lack of oxygen from bronchial constriction. One of my many pediatric patients who suffered from allergic asthma always displayed an eczema-like patch right before a flare up of her allergy attack, a very useful tip off. I instructed her mother to treat her right away with herbs for allergies to avert an asthma attack.
Your Left Cheek
The left cheek corresponds to your wood element, or the liver-gallbladder network.
Problems in this part of the face can also reveal emotional issues, such as anger and depression, since the liver and gallbladder network includes the nervous system.

When examining your forehead, look for redness or small blood vessels that appear as discoloration, which could indicate a heart problem. Skin discoloration could also be caused by a recent emotionally-charged experience, such as a breakup or loss. It is common for people whose emotions are regularly in turmoil to have a constant furrow between their eyebrows.
A heart attack can often be foretold by a subtle bluish-green hue on the forehead. If you have discoloration on your forehead accompanied by heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, and tingling or pain in your left arm, schedule an appointment with a cardiologist or visit an emergency room, if necessary.
Your Nose

Symptoms of internal discord typically show up as a pimple on the tip or side of your nose. Think back to your meals from the previous day. TERKENAL sebagai stesen televisyen hip, 8TV pada tahun ini melangkah dengan lebih yakin setelah menginjak ke tahun keenam beroperasi di bawah payung Media Prima Berhad.
Malah, sejak pencapaian membanggakan pada tahun lalu, memenangi Gold Award sempena kempen kemerdekaan, Merdeka Rasa Sayang pada majlis anugerah PROMAX, Asia Award telah menyuntik 'tenaga' baru buat 8TV terutama dalam memberi hidangan terbaik lagi menarik buat penonton setia mereka tahun ini.
Mengimbas kembali detik-detik awal kemunculan stesen berkenaan, pertaruhan mereka lebih condong dengan siaran rancangan-rancangan luar terutamanya dari Hollywood dan Asia.
Mencari kelainan, tahun ini separuh daripada program-program yang bersiaran di 8TV disasarkan kepada terbitan produksi tempatan.
Ini merangkumi drama hit saluran itu, Kami musim kedua yang dijangka memulakan siarannya pada 12 September dan 8TV Quickie yang merupakan antara rancangan kegemaran di saluran itu.
Turut dihidangkan ialah drama terbaru arahan James Lee, Butterfly S yang dijangka bersiaran pada 10 Oktober ini.
Tidak ketinggalan, dua program realiti terbaru, Whack It! (11 Jun), program berkonsepkan tarian, Showdown 2010 (31 Mac) dan Welcome To The Rail World yang memulakan siarannya pada 21 Julai ini.
Pada majlis pratonton program-program tahunan (8TV Screening 2010) yang berlangsung di Gold Coast, Australia baru-baru ini, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif 8TV, Ahmad Izham Omar memberitahu, pihaknya menyedari setelah memperoleh banyak pencapaian, warga kerja di stesen berkenaan telah menjadi lebih dinamik dan berdaya kreatif.
"Ini secara tidak langsung mendorong kami dalam memberikan anda suapan rancangan yang inovatif dan kepelbagaian rancangan untuk para penonton.
"Memahami sasaran penonton adalah satu kelebihan kami dalam menyediakan rancangan-rancangan yang menarik agar semuanya terhibur.
"Untuk itu, 2010 akan menjadi tahun yang menarik bagi kami kerana memperlihatkan barisan rancangan yang telah kami pilih secara teliti.
"Kami juga telah membuat penilaian dan memilih drama-drama yang terbaik sahaja dari Hollywood dan Asia serta dalam masa yang sama menyiarkan rancangan inovatif lain terbitan produksi tempatan," katanya.
Jelas Izham, penyumbang terbesar jumlah tontonan tertinggi untuk program terbitan tempatan di 8TV setakat ini ialah 8TV Quickie serta dua program realiti popular di stesen berkenaan, One In A Million (OIAM) dan Malaysian Idol.
Jumlah tontonan untuk program-program tempatan di 8TV dilihat meningkat tahun lalu mencecah 48 peratus.
Atas alasan itu, tahun ini 8TV mensasarkan lebih banyak program-program tempatan di saluran itu.
Dan dalam usaha memastikan peningkatan dari segi jumlah tontonan terhadap program-program tempatan, kata Izham, tahun ini tumpuan mereka lebih kepada siaran drama.
"Ini merujuk kepada selera penonton yang lebih gemar kepada drama.
"Jika dahulu rancangan realiti begitu diminati namun kini tarikan terhadap program-program realiti semakin berkurangan," ujar Izham lagi.
Mengulas tentang pembaharuan drama-drama yang bakal ditayangkan di 8TV, Izham memberitahu, selain melihat kepada keinginan penonton, skrip serta barisan pelakon yang benar-benar bersesuaian dengan watak yang diberikan adalah penting.
Seperti drama terbaru, Butterfly S merupakan paten terbaru drama-drama yang bakal bersiaran di 8TV.
Sebelum ini, selain Kami, Ghost juga antara drama yang turut mendapat sambutan daripada penonton setia 8TV.
"Jika drama-drama di 8TV boleh dijual kepada stesen-stesen TV lain saya rasa itu sudah cukup baik. Sebab itu kalau boleh biarlah drama-drama di stesen ini berlainan daripada mana-mana stesen televisyen di negara ini," kata Izham lagi.
Untuk musim kedua, siri Kami mempertaruhkan jalan cerita yang berlainan malah tiada langsung kesinambungan daripada siri pertama.
"Boleh dikatakan hampir keseluruhan pelakon siri Kami musim kali ini berbeza.
"Ini membuka peluang untuk barisan pelakon lain mencipta peluang dalam membina nama. Hal ini jelas dapat dilihat pada musim pertama dahulu Liyana Jasmay pada awal kemunculan tidak begitu dikenali, kini sudah ramai yang mengenali.
"Kami percaya Kami musim kedua ini mampu menarik perhatian penonton.
"Walaupun pelakon dan jalan ceritanya bertukar namun feel dan nama Kami itu sudah cukup kuat," jelas Izham.
Selain drama-drama tempatan, taruhan 8TV juga kepada drama-drama terbaru dari Hollywood iaitu The Vampire Diaries, 10 Things I Hate About You dan Past Life yang bakal bersiaran pada awal Jun ini.
Turut menemui peminat setia 8TV ialah Flash Forward (28 Jun) dan NCIS: Los Angeles yang bersiaran pada awal Oktober.
Majlis tersebut diadakan di Gold Coast, Australia selain memperkenalkan program-program sepanjang tahun 8TV adalah untuk memberi penghargaan atas sokongan yang diberikan oleh pihak media.
Selain Izham, rombongan seramai 23 orang yang dipandu oleh pemandu pelancong, Mohammad Hishammudin Omar itu turut disertai oleh wakil-wakil media utama tempatan seperti Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo! Berita Harian, Berita Minggu, Harian Metro, Metro Ahad, New Straits Times dan Malaysia Kini.

A spokesperson for the singer told the Mail Online website: 'Cheryl is going to America for writing and recording sessions. This is a session that was scheduled last month. She is away for a week. We have no further comment to make.'
As at the BRIT Awards last night (16.02.10), Cheryl was not wearing her £160,000 diamond wedding ring at the airport, but had another piece of jewellery in its place, though it was not clear if it was the replacement band that Ashley bought her in 2008 when he was first accused of cheating on her.
Cheryl - who reportedly banned Ashley from attending the ceremony last night following the allegations - cancelled all her promotion around the event but was desperate to give a show-stopping performance.

The 'National Treasure' actor - who was forced to put several of his properties on the market to fund a bill for millions of pounds in unpaid tax - admits he was in shock about his huge debts and wanted to ignore them.
He said: 'The first thing you think is, 'This can't be true. I want to crawl up and hide at the end of the world.' '
Cage says he trusted his former manager Samuel Levin with his money and took his advice when it came to properties.
He revealed: 'With hindsight an inexcusable naivety, because buying these properties ruined me financially.'
However, Cage is determined to pay back all the money and has hired a new manager to help sort his finances.
Cage - who has a four-year-old son Kal-El with third wife Alice Kim and a 19-year-old son Weston from a previous relationship - told Germany's InTouch magazine: 'I have a new manager now, so I'm halfway there. And I will pay off all those debts, to the last cent.
'I have a responsibility for my sons and my wife. I have to get back on my feet.'
The extent of the 46-year-old star's debts were revealed last year, claiming he owed $6 million in back taxes from 2007.

Pasangan berkenaan yang berpakaian lengkap, ditahan anggota penguat kuasa Jais ketika berada dalam sebuah bilik di kediaman itu.
Turut bersama dalam operasi itu, dua anggota dari Balai Polis Kajang dan beberapa penghuni di pangsapuri berkenaan selepas dikatakan tidak mahu bersekongkol dengan perbuatan mungkar pasangan itu.
Suami wanita itu yang berusia lingkungan 60-an dan enggan dikenali berkata, dia yang turut bersama dalam operasi terbabit hanya mampu menahan kemarahan dan hampir pitam sejurus melihat isterinya berada bersama lelaki lain.
"Selama ini, saya hanya mengesyaki isteri mempunyai hubungan dengan lelaki lain dan selepas melihat sendiri kecurangannya di depan mata, hati saya begitu geram.

"Namun, biar undang-undang yang menentukan dan saya serahkan segala kes ini kepada pihak berkuasa (Jais) untuk siasatan," katanya yang sudah tidak dapat menerima lagi isterinya itu.
Menurut suami malang terbabit, dia mendirikan rumah tangga sejak 19 tahun lalu dan mempunyai dua anak hasil perkongsian hidup dan tidak menyangka isterinya itu sanggup melakukan perbuatan terkutuk dengan tinggal bersama lelaki bukan mahram.
"Saya mula mengesyaki isteri mempunyai hubungan sulit sejak beberapa bulan lalu selepas melihat sikapnya yang kerap menjauhkan diri setiap kali telefon bimbitnya berbunyi.
"Dia seolah-olah menyembunyikan sesuatu yang buruk daripada saya kerana sepanjang kami berkahwin, kami tidak pernah berahsia. Kelakuan peliknya ini menyebabkan saya berasa curiga," katanya.
Menurutnya, sejak itu, isterinya yang juga mengajar di sebuah pusat tuisyen di Kajang itu kerap pulang lewat ke rumah walaupun kebiasaannya pusat mengajar berkenaan sudah tutup pada jam 10 malam.
"Isteri saya tiba ke rumah jam 12 tengah malam dan perangainya bertambah teruk, termasuk pernah tidak pulang langsung," katanya.
Lelaki itu mendakwa, isterinya juga pernah menutup telefon bimbitnya dari pagi dan dia hanya dapat menghubungi wanita berkenaan semula pada sebelah malam.
"Sebenarnya, saya sangat risaukan keselamatannya ketika itu kerana telefon bimbitnya tidak dapat dihubungi. Namun, dengan rasa tidak bersalah, isteri saya pulang ke rumah tanpa memberikan alasan munasabah.
Difahamkan, cinta antara wanita itu dan lelaki terbabit mula berputik selepas mereka bertemu ketika menghadiri kursus pada September tahun lalu dan ia semakin menjadi-jadi apabila lelaki berkenaan mengambil kesempatan menyenaraikan nama wanita berkenaan setiap kali kursus dianjurkan.

Jessica - who was most recently romantically linked to Billy Corgan - also said she would never appear naked in any role, and is saving herself for her next love.
She added: 'I will never do nudity. I don't care how dark and intellectual the role could be, you know. I don't care if I could get an Oscar for it, I'm not going to do it.
'Those accolades mean nothing to me. I don't think people deserve to see what's under my clothing. That's only for my next husband ha ha ha!'
The 'Come On Over' singer - who gave up country music in April 2009 after a widely criticised move from her pop roots to the genre in 2007 - also reflected on her upcoming 30th birthday, admitting her life has turned out differently to how she thought when she was young.
She told Allure magazine: 'I never really thought, growing up, 'What am I gonna be like when I'm 30?'
'I just kind of thought I had it figured out; I'm going to be this great pop star, have my songs on the radio, be married, and have babies.
'But things can be taken away from you. A song can not be played on the radio. An album can not work.'
